Craftsman Aaron Hammer, originally from Kansas City, has lived in the Islands for over 20 years. He now resides on the Big Island with his family. A talented and versatile award -inning woodturner, he produces lathe turned bowls, drums, wine corks and jewelry, all of which are made from locally felled (and thus, recycled) trees. Aaron finds lathe-work both physically demanding and spiritually enlightening, and he particularly enjoys witnessing the transformation of wood from its raw form into a refined piece of artwork. His bowls are known to be more substantial than delicate, reflective of the traditional Hawaiian style.
